This gentle Vitamin C (it’s actually ascorbic acid) serum was recommended to me by my friend Iris while I was living in Indonesia. This was one of several products she recommended from their collection (I also purchased their Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask). If you’ve never heard of Klairs, they are a k-beauty brand with a goal to create a line of clean simple skincare products.

This is a 5% Vitamin C serum, which means it’s pretty gentle for most skin types. Vitamin C is great for brightening any dark spots, evening skin tone, and great for treating fine lines.

So I also made my husband use this product to see how someone with dry skin responds vs someone with oily skin (me). We both really loved liked it! I typically get pretty irritated by Vitamin C products but this one doesn’t irritate or make my skin red. My husband on the other hand said “it makes my face feel warm” which i’m not exactly sure if I know what that actually means… After a few weeks of using this product, I have seen a difference in my skin. One of my co-workers even commented on how my skin was glowing! Love those small victories.

The texture is unique in that it feels like a dry oil, it absorbs incredibly quickly into your skin. Doesn’t leave any residue behind and goes great under makeup. I used this in the AM before moisturizer and SPF. Overall I feel like this product did a great job evening out my skin tone and texture, and highly recommend this if you wanna dabble in the world of Vitamin C, due to the low price point and effectiveness.

Few things to point out is that this product is incredibly sensitive to heat and sunlight, so I would recommend keeping it in a dark cool place. I noticed that the liquid itself has started to oxidize (turned a little yellow) which can reduce the effectiveness of the product.

What I like About it

  • The texture is almost like a dry oil. It absorbs very quickly into the skin.

  • Felt the level of Vitamin C was pretty balanced.

  • It’s gentle on the skin, my face doesn’t turn red like with some vitamin C products i’ve used before.

What Don’t I like About it

  • This product is incredibly sensitive to light and can oxidize very quickly. Needs to be stored in a dark cool place.

How to use

Store in a cool place. Apply a small amount of the serum onto your dry face post cleanse and tone. Press the serum into the skin until absorbed. Moisturize after.
