In Review: A Month Of Drunk Elephant

Drunk Elephant Littles

There’s a cult following around Dunk Elephant: they have packaging that makes for a cute shelfie, they fall in the category of natural skincare, and I keep seeing articles pop up around the brand. So, when Sephora stocked The Littles collection over the holidays (8 mini products included), I figured this is the time to try!

I decided to solely use Drunk Elephant products for a month. I wanted to see how my skin would react to this new household brand. There were products that worked really well and some that were just way too strong for my skin. If you have sensitive acne prone skin, I would recommend 4 of the 8 products: Jelly Cleanser, Hydration Serum, Eye Serum and the Face Oil. More details below.

My AM Routine, In this Order

Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser
In my opinion, I thought this cleanser was great for my skin type. It It does have a jelly-like consistency, which felt nice on my face, almost melting into my skin once you added water. The cleanser did its job without stripping my face. Recommend this item, as I feel it’s a solid cleanser for sensitive skin.

C-Firma™ Day Serum
This serum was a bit touch and go for me. I really wanted to like this a lot, but it may be a bit too intense for my skin type. Would make me turn red almost right after application, taking a few minutes to calm down. Feel like it would be a good product for people with normal to dry skin, as it worked really well on my neck and chest, making those areas softer. I will call out this product did have a slight smell to it, so it may/not bother you and it doesn’t absorb that well. Skin will get sensitive to sun, so you must pair it with some SPF.

Shaba Complex™ Eye Serum
This product worked really well for brightening the skin around my eyes and reduced fine lines — wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for a lift, this stuff won’t help my inevitable droopy lids. The formula goes on smooth, sinks into skin nicely (can put makeup over it), and a little goes a long way.

B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Serum
Loved this light weight, gel-like serum that absorbed nicely into my skin. It was a good boost of hydration right after applying the C-Fiirma product. Vitamin C products are typically a bit drying or gritty, so this helped even the application.

Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream
Sadly this whipped ‘cream’ or lotion was way too heavy for me. It started to clog my pores pretty quickly — noticed the little small bumps around my cheeks and forehead forming after a few days. I prefer (and really like) their other moisturizer, Protini™ Polypeptide Cream, as it’s lighter weight with a more gel-like consistency.

Umbra Sheer™ Physical Daily Defense SPF 30
I would have liked if their SPF applied smoother. The cream itself was a bit thick, and feel like a traditional SFP. It also smells like SPF, which I i’m not a fan of.

My PM Routine, In this order

Beste™ No. 9 Jelly Cleanser
Same as my AM routine, great light weight cleanser.

T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum
It’s an exfoliator that was just way to strong for my face. If you want to give it a try, I would suggesting using it every other day vs everyday. Glycolic is typically a bit too strong for me anyway, so I knew I was probably going to respond poorly. A girl can try. But what doesn’t work on my face, will work on my neck and chest — am happy with the results as it smoothed out the tone and I woke up with baby soft skin.

Shaba Complex™ Eye Serum
Same as AM routine, really like this if you’re looking to brighten and reduce fine lines.

Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! I’m a sucker for a good oil, and I really liked this a lot. If you haven’t tried face oils, this is a good one to experiment with. I used this in place of a moisturizer, and it just made my face feel so good when I woke up. I really did see a difference in my skin where it evened out the texture and tone. I also put this on dry spots like my elbows and cuticles!
