I present to you one of the Black sheet masks I picked up while in Malaysia! This particular mask is made in Taiwan. The line itself has a variety of charcoal sheet masks, which I was actually overwhelmed with what to try. What I like about charcoal sheet masks is that they help pull out any bacteria, dirt, oil, or even environmental toxins that are in your skin. So having a sheet mask infused with charcoal in addition to that masks serum, i’m a fan.

This Timeless Truth mask is supposed to help with fading dark spots, making your skin softer, and it helps soothe your skin (specifically after sun exposure). Since i’m locked inside right now self-isolating, i’m going to pretend the post sun benefits translate into calming any skin irritations.

Overall I think this mask is decent, and love that it’s not made with parabens (the bad chemicals, typically preservatives in skincare). Application is business as usual: you keep it on your skin for 15-20 mins after your clean and tone your face. The mask applied really nicely, staying put and literally soaked with serum. There was more than enough serum in the mask (it was dripping off my face during application) and leftover product in the package you could probably apply it to half your body!

As soon as the mask was on, I quickly noticed the menthol cooling sensation, hated that. I hate anything cooling, if I wanted cooling i’d stick it in the fridge. If you like that sorta thing, this may be perfect for you. Once removed the serum dried very quickly and didn’t leave any sticky reside behind. I did notice that the overall tone of my skin looked a bit lighter, which is attributed to the active ingredients that are supposed to target dark spots. My face did react a bit negatively to the mask in that my face just looked red which could have been from some of the acids in this mask — I get read very easily if I don’t hydrate my skin properly. And let’s be clear, this is not a mask for hydration.

Throughout the day I noticed that the product didn’t react well with my face oil, the combo started to pill a bit. So this may not be a good mask to use in the AM under your makeup.

The next day I did notice that two whiteheads popped up, which i’m hoping, was the charcoal drawing out dirt from my pores… At the end of the day my opinion about this mask is pretty neutral. I didn’t have mind blowing results and I didn’t have negative results. And to be honest, since I didn’t use it post sun exposure, I can really judge if this is a good go-to soothing mask.

What I like About it

  • The mask stayed on my face pretty well.

  • The mask is SOAKED in serum. Literally dripping off my face during application.

  • When I removed the mask, the serum dried very quickly, which would be great for AM routines.

  • Wasn’t sticky.

  • There was enough product to rub on my neck and chest.

  • Seemed to make my skin look brighter/lighter.

  • Looks like it helped balance my sebum.

What Don’t I like About it

  • It’s infused with menthol, I generally hate the feeling of menthol, so wasn’t a fan of the forced cooling sensation.

  • It made my skin a little flushed/red, which didn’t really fade.

  • Possibly made me get a few whiteheads.

How to use

After you cleanse and tone your skin, remove mask from package and apply to face. Remove mask after 15-20 minutes and pat or massage the rest of the serum into your skin as it dries.
