My AM Routine: March Edition

I’m guilty of constantly switching up my skincare routine, addicted to finding the perfect products for when my skin acts out: acne, redness, over oily, etc. I think this is largely to do with the fact that my skin has an interesting history: perfect skin in my teens, painful cystic acne when I hit my early 20’s, and now in my 30’s trying to fight signs of aging.

I do believe you should listen to what’s going on with your complexion, and switch out one or two products to help with any issues you’re currently dealing with. Most dermatologists don’t recommend overhauling your routine, so I would swap with caution. If you do want to try new products, I recommend testing them on a small patch of your face to see how your skin responds to the ingredients.

With that said, i’ve found a routine that works really well for me, and I tend to play within that world: cleanser, toner, serum, lotion, eye cream. Below is a break down of the products i’m currently using and why.

My AM Routine, In this Order

Evenprime Cleanser
Evenprime actually sent me this cleanser and their moisturizer to try. They are a new company based out of California, and their products are backed by Korean technology. It’s a mens skincare line, advertised to help mattify your skin, so I was curious. I’ve been using this cleanser for a month now — it’s gel based, has a fresh smell and a little goes a long way (pea sized amount will wash your face). It does a good job removing makeup and yes I believe my face looks more matte after washing. I’m not sure if this is my favorite cleanser, but I think it’s still pretty solid.

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
I love SK-II’s sheet masks, so I wanted to see if the liquid form of their Pitera was equally as amazing. After cleansing, and when my face is dry, I apply this essence with a cotton pad. This is a new product in my routine, been using it for about a month. The biggest difference i’ve seen is in texture and skin hydration. Texture because my skin feels really smooth, and hydration because when it absorbs into my skin my face doesn’t feel dry. My esthetician the other day told me my skin had a nice glow, so i’ll credit this product to my new radiant skin!

Erha21 Active Eye Firmer
After the SK-II essence, I apply my eye cream. I’ve talked about this product before in a previous post, and here it is again, I love this Erha21 product. I discovered the brand when I was in Indonesia and i’m really sad it’s almost done. Basically it does everything for me: lifts, firms and brightens the skin around my eyes.

Sunday Riley Good Genes Treatment
I typically use a thin layer of this product all over my face after I prime. It lightly exfoliates throughout the day, helping with evening out my skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles and it also lightenings my acne spots. I cannot recommend this product enough! It does have an expensive price tag, but this stuff is the fountain of youth. Main ingredient is lactic acid, so it may tickle a little when you first start using it. If you were to get one Sunday Riley product, this is it.

SK-II R.N.A Power Radical New Age Moisturizer
After my Sunday Riley product dries, I finish with this anti-aging moisturizer. It's really light and absorbs pretty quickly into my skin. I like that my face feels balanced throughout the day. I know this product is locking in moisture because my oil production is under control. This is another pretty pricy product, not sure if it’s worth it.

True Botanicals Cellular Repair Serum, Renew
I typically use this anti-aging serum on my face at night, but lately have been starting to use it on my neck during the day and it’s making my neck and chest baby soft. I like that they are a natural skincare line, not to mention their founders story is pretty incredible. I typically don’t like skincare with a scent, but I have to say all of their products smell amazing, like you’re at an herbalist shop.

J.One Jelly Pack Primer
After my skincare routine is done, I finish with this primer. The consistency of this product is like honey, it’s thick and sticky. Something I had to get used to. There are so many things I love about this primer. First, I love that it seeps into all my fine lines and pores, giving my face a smooth canvas to apply makeup to. Second, I like that my makeup just sticks to it, holding it in place all day! Third, I love that it’s not just a primer but also plumps and brightens your skin too. I get so my compliments about how great my skin looks when I use this primer.
